Bio and how they support artists

My involvement in the Vaporwave, Future Funk, Indie andJapanese City Pop scene has extended beyond ten years as I have produced various playlists and mixes to illustrate the genre's energetic mix of 70s and 80s jazz, disco, funk, and fusion elements. In 2015 I launched a YouTube channel to introduce international listeners to City Pop artists such as Tatsuro Yamashita and Mariya Takeuchi which built a subscriber base of over 100,000 until its removal in 2019. My passion remained steadfast as I shared my mixes on Mixcloud and SoundCloud which earned significant recognition and praise. I also have over 70 mixes on Mixcloud dating back more than a decade's worth of curated playlists. My promotion of City Pop extends beyond online platforms as I have organized more than 100 live events in major cities including Tokyo, Paris, Berlin and Chicago. My residency at Chicago's The Whistler and Murasaki Sake Lounge created immersive 1980s Tokyo neon nights for attendees. The genre benefits from my educational program development efforts. The "Mayonaka Hour" podcast features my co-hosting duties as we investigate City Pop's detailed characteristics through discussions about legendary musicians and their albums and by studying how the style continues to thrive today. Through partnerships with major Japanese labels I have had the chance to remix iconic songs which bridges historical music with today's sounds. The Chicago Reader, NHK, and CNN acknowledged my work because of my contributions to the genre's revival. Through Groover I will apply my deep-rooted experience and enthusiasm to showcase new musicians and provide them with authentic visibility as well as constructive feedback. I operate from a genuine passion for music and work to establish strong links between global artists and their audiences.
