About

Bio and how they support artists

The story begins in 2006 when dOpeShack and Keryo, in addition to their friendship, share a true passion for Jamaican music. Naturally, they decide to combine their knowledge and vinyl boxes to create their own sound in 2010, King Hi-Fi. Built by hand in the tradition of Jamaican Sound Systems, the Sound System will undergo several upgrades to offer higher quality listening and a more immersive experience. Over the years and through collaborations, the sound's musical identity will assert itself through Bass Music selections, paying tribute to all facets of Reggae in its broadest sense, from 70’s Roots to the warrior and cosmic Stepper of the 3000s, with a particular focus on 80’s Digital Reggae. The crew quickly grows with the arrival of MCs from the KPC crew (Cookah & Likkle Ferguson) and the Mystik Mountain Family (Teuteu, Vinz, DubToine, Moko, Kayass) as new engineers, boxmen, selectors... all now united under the King Hi-Fi Family banner. Through encounters with MCs and Riddim Makers with whom they've shared dances, the sound launches its own label in 2014, Pure Niceness Records, intended to promote emerging artists and producers from the international Dub Sound System scene. The label's identity is clear: Digital Reggae and Heavy Stepper vibes. The label already has several vinyl and digital releases under its belt, with producers such as Danny T & Tradesman (UK), Iron Dubz (Geneva), Bim One (Japan), Echo Roots (Sweden), MrZebre (France), Dub Machinist (France) and international singers like Mr Williamz, Michael Prophet, Pad Anthony, Troy Berkley, Jah Screechy, Lasai, and Peppery. Finally, in 2019, the crew launched a second label, Mental Stamina Records, with the aim of exploring all facets of Reggae Music, from Roots to Stepper, with influences from Rap, Tropical... This label has already made a name for itself in the Sound System scene with highly praised releases, featuring artists such as Daba Makourejah (Senegal), Tiberias Towa (Italy), Handyman, Syra (FR), I-Rebel (Germany), Daman, and Puppa Djoul (France), but also some experiments, such as with Mafia Matou and his Dub Tropical vibe.

More than giving our honest and humble opinion, we can promote your music with differents paths : live with our Sound System, on our channels (mainly Soundcloud), but also propose physical and digital distribution, via our 2 labels, but also with your label name, securing your total independance.
